A great place for fishing, crabbing, and beachcombing for agates, Yachats also offers theatre and musical performance, good restaurants with live music, as well as many festivals.  All seasons are beautiful.  In winter many come to watch the storms come in off of the ocean.
Yachats provides activities for children and youth, and the neighboring towns of Florence and Newport offer a distinctive aquarium, dune buggy rides, whale watching trips and helicopter rides. The Alsea, one of two lovely rivers nearby, is well known for canoeing, kayaking, trout fishing, camping and other recreational opportunities.
